Mission Statement
At "J.M Carras" Kindergarten, we cultivate a learning community that empowers children with the skills and competencies of the 21st century, enabling them to solve complex problems and confidently meet the challenges of both today and tomorrow. We are committed to nurturing the uniqueness of every child while fostering an environment of acceptance, respect, and care that supports their holistic development.
Our Methodology
Our goal is to provide an innovative dual language curriculum specifically designed to meet the developmental needs of early childhood.
As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) since 2022, we implement an internationally recognized inquiry-based curriculum. At the same time, we integrate the Engineering Design Process (EDP) in collaboration with the Boston Museum of Science. Both educational frameworks share a common pedagogical philosophy founded on inquiry, collaboration, and experiential learning. Through this approach, children actively construct knowledge across all areas of learning. Our students are encouraged to think critically through a play-based, inquiry-driven educational programme that offers authentic, interdisciplinary learning experiences connected to real-life contexts.
Organization
J.M. Carras Kindergarten is housed in a state-of-the-art, bioclimatic building designed according to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards, ensuring environmental sustainability while providing an optimal learning environment. The school features twelve modern classrooms equipped with advanced educational technology and supported by high-quality facilities. From September 2026, the kindergarten expanded its facilities with the addition of the Haralambos D. Vellis Amphitheater, a designated space for specials classes, performances, and school events.
As a dual-language kindergarten, all learning experiences are delivered equally in both Greek and English. Each classroom is staffed by an experienced Greek-speaking teacher, an English-speaking teacher, and a teaching assistant, ensuring high-quality instruction and individualized support for every child. Specialist subjects included in both the Basic and Extended Programs are taught by experienced single-subject teachers, enriching children's learning experiences and supporting their holistic development.
The health and wellbeing of our students are safeguarded by a full-time school nurse and a pediatrician who visits the school twice a week. In addition, our kindergarten is the only one in Greece that has a permanent Psychoeducational Team, consisting of a child psychologist, an educational psychologist, a speech and language therapist, and an occupational therapist. The team's role is to provide early identification, prevention, and individualized support, ensuring that every child receives the guidance they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
