“Sea Bass” Section Investigates Ship Building with Help from a Naval Engineer

Apr 5, 2021

As part of the Interdisciplinary Unit “Where We Are in Place and Time,” students in the “Sea Bass” section had an opportunity to speak via Microsoft Teams with a parent-naval engineer who was located at a naval shipyard in China.  Our students practiced social and thinking skills as they inquired about how ships are designed and constructed. The parent-naval engineer then gave them a tour of a ship and of the shipyard and with the use of appropriate audiovisual materials succeeded in answering all of their queries.

Their questions were numerous (How is a ship painted? How long does it take to construct a ship? How difficult is the job of a naval engineer?)  It was indeed a unique experience for all of us!!!

We thank him very much!
