Applying to the IB Diploma Programme
The Hellenic-American Educational Foundation (HAEF) holds admissions exams for students entering into the 1st year of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB1).
The Student Admissions Office is accepting online applications.
Following the online application and in order to complete the registration process parents should:
- Complete the online form with the terms and conditions for the examinations they will receive through e-mail by the Student Admissions Office.
- Send a recent photograph of the candidate in jpeg format for the “PARTICIPATION FORM”, that candidates must have with them on the day of the examination.
- Deposit €120 to an Athens College bank account.
Terms of the examinations
Subjects tested are:
- General Knowledge / Critical Thinking
- English Language
- Mathematics
The exam syllabus for the three subjects is available in the IB DP Related Files.
Each of the three 75-minute tests (English, Mathematics, General Knowledge/Critical Thinking) will be scored on a scale of 100 points, with 50 points considered the lowest passing grade.
Parents of candidates who have learning disabilities – certified by a public or private* organization- must submit all relevant documents (*this applies only to students from foreign schools).
Candidates who do not achieve a passing grade in any one of the three disciplines and fail to achieve a cumulative score of at least 195/300 are excluded from admission.
Students will be admitted into IB1 strictly based on ranking and the cumulative score achieved in the General Knowledge/Critical Thinking, English Language and Mathematics tests and based upon availability.
Final scores are announced to parents in writing through e-mail and no appeal for test retaking or review will be considered.
A change in school from the IB DP back into Grade 11 of Athens College or Psychico College High School is not possible.
Please note that candidates who wish to enroll and attend Athens College are required to be have completed all the prescribed vaccinations according to the Greek National Vaccination Committee and the National Vaccination Program.

Info sessions for HAEF Junior High and High Schools
Directors of the HAEF Junior High, High School and IB Programmes give presentations on the curriculum, the educational and pedagogical philosophy of the School. Each session will commence with the presentation for the Junior High Schools followed by a presentation for the High Schools and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
