Elementary School, Junior High School & High School
The French program aims to provide students of our Schools with the opportunity to graduate with adequate knowledge of a second foreign language, as well as the ability to pass foreign language certifications exams. The French language diplomas, issued by the French Ministry of Education (France Éducation International), align with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe.
The Foreign Language Center offers a program of Creative Activities in French for students in Elementary School Grades 1, 2, 3, and 4. These activities include entertainment, arts and crafts, songs, games, and early reading and writing. Through these experiences, children begin to discover the world in French.
Additionally, a supplementary program of studies has been developed for students in Junior High School and High School who aim to achieve a high level of French and prepare for the DELF & DALF exams. The program incorporates modern teaching methodologies and is delivered by carefully selected, qualified educators. Lessons are supported by appropriate materials (exclusively French editions) and enriched with participation in cultural events (such as the Francophonie competition), library use, and other activities.
At the end of the school year, the Foreign Language Center organizes educational/cultural trips abroad. Students enrolled in the Center will be given priority for these trips.
Lessons are structured into three cycles, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe.
1st cycle Beginner Level - DELF A1- A2- B1
Students are taught the vocabulary and fundamental structures of the French language that enable them to:
- express themselves on general topics
- present issues, placing them in the context of time and space
- write letters requesting or providing information on everyday subjects
- read and comprehend texts
- express their feelings and ideas, and support their opinions
At the same time, they are prepared within one academic year for the DELF A1, A2, and Β1 exams (in Junior High School Grades 1, 2, 3, in standard or advanced classes).
2nd cycle Intermediate Level - DELF - Β2
The DELF B2 level is taught over the course of one academic year and serves as the qualification required for exemption from language proficiency exams at universities in France and other French-speaking countries. It is internationally recognized as proof of sufficient command of the language.
3rd cycle Advanced Level - DALF C1 - C2
The DALF C1 level is taught over the course of one academic year. It certifies advanced proficiency in French and exempts international students from the language proficiency exams required by universities in France and other French-speaking countries.
The DALF C2 level, also taught within one academic year, certifies an exceptional command of the French language.
All six levels (Α1, Α2, B1, B2, C1, C2) are independent certifications and do not require renewal.
