International Poetry Festival, September 23-29, 2013

Two centuries ago, the German poet Friedrich Hӧlderlin questioned the need for poets in times of strife.  Yet during war time, Seferis wrote “Last Stop” and Eggonopoulos “Bolivar.”  In our own difficult times, the international poetry festival showcases “a global creative field, common to all, where Greece has a valuable share, claiming a seriousness of purpose and extroversion that are much needed.”

From September 23rd through the 29th, 2013, the 1st International Poetry Festival took place, organized by the Circle of Poets in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens, the Athens Concert Hall, the Benaki Museum and other cultural and civic organizations from the Attica prefecture.
