“Team Greece 2025” reached the elimination rounds of the World Schools Debating Championship 2025, in Panama. Our student Artemis Papastavrou participated in this year’s national debate team.
Team Greece ranked in the top 24 teams globally, after qualifying for the final rounds of the competition (partial octos). In the qualifying preliminary rounds, our team won debates against Ecuador, Indonesia, Spain, and Chile. This year’s World Schools Debating Championship took place on July 22 – August 1 in Panama, with participation from 58 national teams from all continents.
The team that achieved this international success for our School and for Greece consisted of: Marianna Argeiti (Pierce College), Ellie Kitinou (Moraitis School), Kai Yuet-Zhang (ACS Athens) and our own Artemis Papastavrou from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
It should also be noted that Team Greece 2025 achieved remarkable international success throughout this year. They are the reigning Eurasian Schools Debating Champions, and the Champions of Pakistan Pre-WSDC 2025. They are also the Grand Finalists of Helsinki Schools Open 2025, for which competition our student Danae Tatsopoulou (IB1) also joined the team.
The team for the World Schools Debating Championship was coached by Kallina Basli (Forensics Head of Athens College) and Michael Shapira.
Congratulations to our student
and the whole team for their outstanding international successes!
