IB DP Years 1 & 2 (GRADES 11 & 12)
Psychico College High School was authorized as an IB World School in 1996 and is at present the largest and one of the few schools in Greece to offer the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme (IB DP). Through a rich curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking and collaboration, coupled with access to an interconnected, global community of thinkers and learners, the IB DP is a strong pathway to university and forward-thinking education.
The IB DP is a two-year program that is designed for students in the last two years of high school. It corresponds to the 11th and 12th grade of Secondary Education and aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
The IB DP ensures that students are well-rounded and prepares them for entry to the best higher education institutions all over the world. Research shows that IB DP graduates perform exceptionally well when compared to their non-IB peers.
The IB DP focuses on rigorous academic study, within a broad and balanced curriculum. Additionally, students in the IB DP have ample opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills to authentic contexts, to gain valuable experience through community service, to hone essential life skills and be motivated to succeed in school and beyond.
The IB DP at Psychico College provides a supportive learning environment beyond expectations and has implemented a plan to ensure that all its facilities are regularly updated to the highest standards. The Psychico campus is highly regarded as having some of the best school facilities in Athens; a library, a theatre, visual arts and music studios, science labs, multiple computer labs, and an athletic facility with a competition-size swimming pool, gymnasium and fitness center. Our IB DP is open to students from all schools and nationalities provided they have successfully completed the equivalent of Grade 10, have an adequate command of the English language, are highly motivated and willing to adopt the disciplined work habits required by the IB DP curriculum.

Classes are kept small to facilitate a more individualized approach to teaching and the teaching schedule is further enhanced with additional hours of instruction in all subject areas to give students the opportunity to attain an even deeper level of understanding.
Through our various community programs students are given unique access to a number of service opportunities where they get to experience first-hand the true meaning of giving back.

Our University Applications and Counselling Office (UACO) ensures that all IB DP students at Psychico College apply to colleges / universities that are an optimal match for them. At the onset of Year 1, each student is assigned a counsellor from our highly qualified team of UACO counsellors, who then works closely with the student to guide him/her in choosing the right course of study in the DP as relates to his/her areas of interest, and tirelessly goes through an exhaustive list of schools making sure they meet the student’s academic, professional, geographical, and financial needs.
