MIT Women’s Technology Program for High School students led by Dr. Barbara Hughey

Jun 30, 2026
From June 22 to 26, 2026, our School hosted the MIT Women’s Technology Program (MIT WTP), led by the Program's Director, Dr. Barbara Hughey. Twenty female High School students from Athens College, Psychico College, and Anatolia College of Thessaloniki participated.

MIT WTP aims to empower and promote women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Innovation. Through hands-on workshops, group projects, and guidance from mentors and teaching assistants from Greek and US universities, the participating students gained valuable experience in real-world applications of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). They also had the opportunity to meet with female scientists and professionals in technology and engineering.

The event was organized by the Athens College and Psychico College-IB High School Parents Associations. It is one of the most important international initiatives dedicated to empowering young women in STEM and took place in Greece for the first time. Ms. Sofia Zacharaki, Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, warmly welcomed the initiative, visited the School, and spoke with students and teachers about their experiences.
