As part of the Student Initiatives under the slogan “Our students support students,” the Student Community of Athens College High School launched the campaign “Elpida (Hope) 2026: Together, committed to learning and life!” during Panigiri 2026. The campaign has been launched at the initiative of Athens College High School Grade 2 students, in memory of their classmate, Ioannis Kontogeorgis, who lost his battle with cancer last July.

In particular, the students are raising funds to provide educational technology equipment for the schools at the “ELPIDA” Guest House and the Children’s Oncology Unit “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis - ELPIDA”. Their aim is to improve the education provided to students with neoplastic diseases who reside at the Guest House during their treatment at the oncology clinics of the “Agia Sofia” and “Aglaia Kyriakou” Children’s Hospitals.

“The loss of our beloved classmate reminds us of the importance of raising awareness within the College community, so that together we can support our peers who are battling cancer and stand beside them in their fight for life through encouraging their journey into the world of knowledge! We kindly ask for your support, so that our initiative may succeed and help bring hope and joy back into the lives of these children!"
