Athens College Elementary School – International recognition for a teacher in the Eco-Campus program
Our School’s teacher, Marianthi Giannakopoulou, has assumed the role of National Operator for the Eco-Campus program in Greece—a significant international distinction that recognizes her academic background, extensive experience in environmental education, and ongoing contribution to promoting sustainability within the educational community.
The representation of Greece in this international network strengthens the collaboration between the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) and our School, while also fostering connections with educators and organizations across Europe. In this way, it actively supports the development and dissemination of the Eco-Campus program’s principles within our country.
As part of her new responsibilities, Ms. Giannakopoulou participated in the meeting of the Eco-Campus National Operators which took place from June 10 to 12, 2026, at the Marino Institute of Education in Dublin, Ireland.
The meeting brought together representatives from numerous countries, aiming to promote the exchange of best practices and to address key issues related to sustainability, environmental education, and the development of Eco-Campus programs in higher education.
Through workshops, presentations, and collaborative activities, our teacher had the opportunity to explore the latest developments in the field and to actively contribute to the international dialogue on advancing sustainability in education.
