Athens College Elementary School - L'Enfant et la Rose: The magic of French-language theater in our school community

Jun 5, 2026

On Monday, May 25, and Tuesday, May 26, the Club Les Petits Comédiens presented the performance “L’Enfant et la Rose” to students in Grades 3–6. The play is an original adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic literary work The Little Prince.

The performance gave the children the opportunity to engage with one of the most significant works of world literature through the living magic of theater. Following the young hero’s journey, they encountered timeless messages about friendship, love, responsibility, respect, and the value of human relationships.

At the same time, they were introduced to elements of French literature and Francophone culture, coming to understand language as an essential means of expression and communication. Exposure to the theatrical experience enhanced their creativity, critical thinking, and empathy, contributing to the development of linguistic, cognitive, and intercultural skills.

This initiative once again highlighted the important role of Clubs in the holistic development of children. Through the theatrical experience, the students engaged with the arts, boosted their self-confidence, cultivated social and cognitive skills, and experienced learning as a creative, experiential, and collaborative process.

Warm congratulations to all participants for their dedication, creativity, and outstanding performance on stage.
