Psychico College Elementary School – Book fair by students & book presentation by young author Mikela Carousos – Grade 3

Jun 5, 2026

On Wednesday, May 27, the Grade 3 ENL students of Psychico College Elementary School had the pleasure of organizing a Book Fair featuring their own original stories in English and presenting them to their classmates. Throughout the term, the students explored the basic elements of storytelling, such as setting, time, characters, problem, and solution. They then developed their writing skills by taking on the roles of authors and illustrators. All students had the opportunity to read the books created by their peers, discover the unique characters and plots, and admire the beautiful illustrations. It was a particularly joyful occasion, as the children proudly shared their work.

The writing activity and the fair served as inspiration for inviting the talented young author Mikela Carousos, creator of the book The Tiny Traffic People, to our School. Thus, on Friday, May 29, Mikela, just 12 years old, presented to the students the stages of the writing process she followed to create her wonderful book and spoke about how her interest in storytelling began. The students participated enthusiastically in the presentation, asking many questions, which the author gladly answered. In this way, she inspired the children to continue writing their own stories and to pursue their dreams.
