Professional development trip for Elementary School teachers to Boston

Apr 28, 2026

Nine Elementary School teachers from Athens College and Psychico College participated in a highly enriching professional development trip to Boston from April 5 to 10.

During their visit, the teachers observed classes at two renowned schools, Shady Hill School and Belmont Day School, gaining valuable insights into daily school life and contemporary pedagogical approaches. They were also briefed by the school administrations on each school's structure and organization, and had the opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices with their colleagues.

A particularly memorable experience took place at Shady Hill School, where students received letters written by our own students, marking the beginning of a meaningful exchange that will continue through ongoing correspondence between the children.

The teachers' two-day educational experience at the Boston Museum of Science was also especially significant. They participated in STEAM programs and activities, including YES (Youth Engineering Solutions) experiments, further enriching their professional knowledge through innovative teaching methods that promote inquiry-based learning.

As part of the visit, a very constructive meeting was also held with Mr. George Antoniadis ’80, Chairman of our School’s Board of Trustees.

Our teachers returned inspired and enriched with new knowledge and creative ideas, eager to apply what they learned in their daily teaching practice for the benefit of their students and the wider school community.
