What happens when young minds decide to tackle a global challenge? Grade 6 students explored the important issue of food waste in their English class, and the results were eye-opening. Through research and discussion, they first understood the scope of the problem. Determined to contribute to its solution, they began measuring the amount of food waste produced, turning awareness into real data and meaningful action.

But their efforts didn’t stop there. The children took the next step, using a compost bin to turn the waste they had collected into compost. Over time, the waste was transformed into rich, nutritious soil, which was then used as natural fertilizer in the school garden, completing a powerful cycle from waste to renewal.

As part of this initiative, the students also collaborated to create a video that captures their journey, ideas, and solutions. From surprising facts to practical steps, their work highlights not only the scale of the problem but also the power of collective effort.

We are proud to share this initiative with the wider school community. The students’ message is clear: with awareness, responsibility, and action, even small changes can lead to something truly meaningful.
