Athens College Elementary School - “Spreading Happiness”: An Initiative of Love and Solidarity, Grades 1 & 2
Once again this year, students in Elementary School Grades 1 and 2 participated in the “Spreading Happiness” initiative and supported the work of “Floga,” the Parents Association of Children with Cancer.
To mark the International Day of Happiness on March 20, the children discussed with their teachers the concept of happiness, the value of gratitude, and the importance of sharing joy and love with those around us. In art class, they painted and decorated white T-shirts, writing their own slogans of happiness and turning each T-shirt into a unique message of optimism.
The activity culminated in the symbolic “Hanging of the Happiness Laundry.” Students and teachers went out to our School’s forest and hung up all the T-shirts, creating a colorful, heartwarming scene that spread smiles and positive energy.
The children’s participation in this activity also had a social outreach aspect, as, for one more year, we supported the important work of “Floga,” transforming the joy of creation into an act of love and solidarity.
