Athens College Elementary School - Educational visit to the Acropolis Museum, Grade 4

Mar 12, 2026

On Monday, March 9, 2026, Elementary School Grade 4 students enjoyed an educational visit to the Acropolis Museum, transforming their history lessons into a vivid experience of discovery.

The visit was part of the PYP transdisciplinary theme "Where we are in place and time" and offered students the opportunity to engage with the past through a contemporary, inquiry-based approach.

During the tour, the children took on the role of young researchers, investigating the concept of continuity and exploring how the achievements of ancient Greek civilization shape our modern identity. Through close observation of the archaic exhibits on the South Slope of the Acropolis, the Caryatids, and the Parthenon Gallery, they practiced observation and thinking skills while recognizing the importance of perspective in interpreting cultural heritage.

This experiential learning opportunity connected classroom knowledge with archaeological findings and encouraged further creativity and discussion. The visit deepened our students' appreciation of history and enhanced their understanding of social change over time.
