On the occasion of the 42nd Athens Marathon, author Maria Kontou, granddaughter of the legendary marathon runner Stelios Kyriakides, accepted an invitation from our Library and presented her book "Stelios Kyriakides: O anthropos pou etrekse gia enan olokliro lao'" (The Man Who Ran for an Entire People). It was a moving and inspiring presentation that illuminated the life and greatness of a man who, through the strength of his soul, inspired an entire nation and left an indelible mark on the history of sports and humanity.

The book's illustrator, Yorgos Sgouros, also presented his work, sharing with students how he sought to capture the athlete's strength, perseverance, and vision through his artwork.

The event concluded on a warm and emotional note, leaving everyone with a powerful message about the values of sport, determination, and compassion for others.
