Athens College Elementary School – Grade 2: Discussing sustainable neighborhoods with the Deputy Mayor for Environment & Quality of Life of the Municipality of Marousi
Continuing their research as part of the 1st transdisciplinary theme of the PYP, Grade 2 students had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Ioannidis, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Quality of Life of the Municipality of Marousi, who visited our school on Friday, October 31.
This meeting further enhanced the children's understanding of the form and function of a neighborhood. Mr. Ioannidis spoke about the importance of a sustainable neighborhood—the neighborhood of the future—and the need to ensure equal access and a high quality of life for all children.
Through this visit, the students enriched their research with new knowledge and ideas that will help them design their own neighborhood, with an emphasis on cooperation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
