Athens College Elementary School - English Department teachers visit Slovenia, Erasmus+ Project: “Greening Our Curriculum, Greening Our Schools”

Oct 10, 2025

As part of the Erasmus+ 210 project "Greening Our Curriculum - Greening Our Schools", teachers from the English Department participated in their second mobility program. From September 19 to 23, 2025, six teachers visited Slovenia to further develop the project's goal: creating an e-book of educational materials that teach the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the subject of English.

During their stay in Slovenia, the teachers:

  • Attended and taught classes at Raka Primary School and Osnovna šola Antona Žnideršiča Ilirska Bistrica, piloting materials already developed for the project.
  • Exchanged ideas and feedback with Slovenian and Swedish partners, planning the next stages of the project.
  • Visited a local Beekeeping Center, learning about the critical role of bees and other pollinators in building a sustainable planet.
  • Explored cultural sights and exchanged ideas on connecting sustainability and culture.

This mobility program reinforced the idea that schools can be agents of change, inspiring more sustainable and responsible futures.

The teachers shared their experiences at an English Department meeting, encouraging colleagues to embed sustainability in their everyday teaching practices.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Slovenian partners for their warm hospitality and collaboration.
