Athens College Elementary School – English Department: Global Action Days 2025 – Learning, Acting, Protecting the Planet
The Global Action Days environmental campaign, organized by the international Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), highlights the vital impact of individual and collective action on both personal well-being and the health of our planet. This global initiative invites schools to join forces in addressing today's environmental challenges.
Once again this year, Athens College Elementary School enthusiastically responded to the call to participate in Global Action Days 2025. The English Department led a series of inspiring, hands-on activities under the themes Soil Safari, We Are Interconnected, Bioeconomy, and Nature's Perspective.
During the campaign, our students:
- Presented a play about the importance of soil and its organisms.
- Explored the forest, observing and recording biodiversity.
- Participated in gardening, planting vegetables and herbs in the school garden.
- Investigated the concept of bioeconomy through recycling and reuse projects.
- Created posters promoting environmental awareness.
Through this multifaceted program, students strengthened their skills in observation, collaboration, and creative expression, while deepening their environmental awareness and reinforcing their role as active, responsible global citizens.
