St. Martin' Day Celebration by the Psychico College Elementary German Department

Nov 11, 2024

On Monday, November 4, 2024 we had the pleasure to welcome to our School Ms. Tina Schürmann and Ms. Ira Valiano, representatives of the ÖSD Greece Institute and to celebrate St. Martin's Day.

Students of Psychico College Elementary German classes gathered in the Theater, where they first watched the story of the life of St. Martin. Ms. Schürmann and Ms. Valiano showed the children how this holiday is celebrated throughout the German-speaking world each year and the message it stands for, which is none other than that of Solidarity.

5th and 6th grade students took their lanterns to the stage of the Theater singing in German songs about this day, trying to take us on a journey to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and to show us, as well as their fellow students of Grades 3 & 4, how children in these countries take part in the celebration of St. Martin's Day.

This was followed by a quiz with questions about the feast. All children took part in this with great enthusiasm and completed the quiz flawlessly!!!

The celebration was concluded with a discussion with the students, in which Deputy Director of the School Ms. Karkasi also participated, about the message of this celebration, which is none other than that of Solidarity and giving to our fellow man without exchange, values that our School has always stood for and passed on to its students.

We would like to thank Ms. Schürmann and Ms. Valiano for their presence at our School for this event.
