On Tuesday, December 12, students of the Athens College Elementary School Rationality Club and the Psychico College Elementary School Mathematical Thinking Club visited the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. More specifically, Professor Konstantinos Kartalis, Director of the Laboratory of Environmental Physics - Meteorology, spoke to our students about climate change and how it affects cities. Then, under the supervision of Mr Kartalis' scientific team, students used infrared thermometers and thermocameras and took measurements of the temperature of materials in the University's surroundings. The aim was for our students to discover how the choice of environmentally friendly materials relates to climate change and sustainable cities. Students were accompanied by teachers Panagiotis Karatzanos, Marianthi Giannakopoulou, and George Papadimitriou. We would like to thank Professor Konstantinos Kartalis and his colleagues Anastasios Polydoros, Konstantina Koutroumanou and Athena Zazanis for the valuable experience they gave to our students!
