Event for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Dec 2, 2025

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), and as part of an experiential initiative to raise students' awareness of diversity and mobility disabilities, the Physical Education Department, in collaboration with the Administrations of the Athens College and Psychico College Junior High Schools, and following an initiative by Ms. Annie Maniati-Efstathiou, mother to some of our students, organized a visit to our School on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The visit was carried out by athletes representing the Association "Ionas – Department of Therapeutic Education for People with Disabilities."

The Association was founded in 2007 with the aim of rehabilitating and improving the motor skills of people with disabilities and preparing them to participate in sporting events.

The purpose of the visit was:

  • To raise awareness among our students and activate their emotional intelligence
  • To encourage children to trust in their abilities and strengths
  • To introduce students to the values of volunteering and social contribution

During the event, G. Goudas delivered a speech, followed by sports activities in which Grade 1 students from the Athens College and Psychico College Junior High Schools participated. These activities included: goalball, blind soccer, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball shooting, and a handcycle demonstration.

The "A" Association made a significant contribution to the event's successful organization.
