Instructions for Commencement 2021

Below are basic instructions for the 92nd Commencement Exercises 2021 that will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.  For detailed information, please refer to the letter in Greek.  To access the letter, select EL from the drop-down list in the upper right hand corner of this webpage.

General Instructions for Guests

1. Due to present circumstances, guests at Commencement are limited to the graduates’ two parents. In the case of single-parent families, one additional member is permitted. For twins, a total of four persons is allowed.

2. Those unable to attend can follow the entire ceremony live on the College’s webpage through the following link: https://www.athenscollege.edu.gr/about-us/commencement-2021/, or through the College’s Facebook page (@AthensPsychicoCollege. 

3. To contain the spread of the coronavirus, graduates and parents/guests attending the Ceremony must complete and submit a Health Form (each person individually) by July 14, 11:00 a.m.  The form can be found on the College Portal which you will access using your personal id/password.  The completion of the Health Form is a pre-requisite for the issuance of a Campus Pass allowing you enter to the Psychico campus on the day of Commencement.  On your individual Campus Pass will find information regarding the gate through which you will enter, where you will park your car, as well as your assigned seat number.

4. Unlike in the past (pre-coronavirus), the traditional rehearsal reception for parents (the eve before Commencement) and the dinner for graduates (on Commencement day itself) are cancelled

Instructions for the Commencement Rehearsal

1. The Commencement rehearsal will take place on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 18:00.  Graduates will enter the campus from the Main Gate only (15 Stephanou Street).  Parents who bring their children by car to the rehearsal will enter through the Main Gate, leave their children in the dirt fields and immediately exit from the Swimming Pool Gate (Homer Davis Street). No one but the graduates may remain on campus.

2. Graduates submit either their National ID or Passport to get their cap and gown from the designated areas in Benaki Hall (on the day of the rehearsal). Caps and gowns are lent out by the School and must be returned the next day, after the Commencement Ceremony ends.  Upon the return of their caps and gowns, students will be given back their National IDs / Passports that were held by the School.  Those wishing to buy their caps and gowns must pay €145.  The tassel from the cap, bearing the School’s coat of arms, is offered to each graduate at no charge at the end of the event.

3. In order to take part in the rehearsal, graduates must present
i.      certificate of having been vaccinated against the coronavirus (14 days after the single dose vaccine or after the 2nd dose for the 2-dose vaccines), or
ii.     certificate of having contracted coronavirus issued thirty (30) days after the first positive test, valid up to one hundred eighty (180) days thereafter , or
iii,   certificate of a negative PCR test for COVID-19 performed within the 72 hours prior to the starting time of the schedule event, or
iv.    certificate of a negative rapid-test using the rapid coronavirus antigen detection method for COVID-19 performed within the 24 hours period prior to the start of the scheduled event, or
v.    declaration of a negative self-test performed within the 24 hours period prior to the start of the scheduled event.

Instructions for the Commencement Ceremony

1. The Commencement Ceremony is on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 and starts at 19:00 sharp.  For health-safety reasons, the latest time of arrival is 18:15, which will be adhered to strictly.

2. Families entering the College campus must do so from the gate (Main Gate, Capps Gate or Filothei Gate) that is clearly marked on their Campus Pass.

3. Graduates should arrive wearing their gowns. Beneath their gowns, boys should wear a light-colored shirt, dark pants and proper shoes (not athletic-wear), while girls are discouraged from wearing high heels in order to avoid accidents.

4. Upon arrival, graduates go to the designated areas inside Benaki Hall (seating in the Courtyard during the Ceremony spaced at 1.5 meters apart).

5. Parents will go to the check-in points depending on their child’s school unit before moving towards their assigned seating in the courtyard of Benaki Hall. Guests/parents will be seated in pairs with a Plexiglas divider between couples.

6. The parade is for graduates and alumni who are present.  Parents-alumni who wish to descend the steps of Benaki Hall must first find their assigned seating and then go to the back balcony of Benaki Hall on a timely basis in order to join the parade.

7. To avoid crowding, the School photographer will only take pictures during the ceremony. There will be no family photo sessions afterwards. The School will offer you a photo of your child as he/she receives his/her diploma, which you will receive electronically in due course.

8.  Once the ceremony ends, graduates return their caps and gowns to the designated area inside Benaki Hall.  Families with their children must adhere to safe-distancing measures as they exit the campus.

9.  Masks must be worn by everyone present at the event (students, teachers, parents and School personnel).  Masks and antiseptic hand cleansers will be available throughout.

10. Should you feel ill during the Ceremony, you must immediately seek out the School nurse who will be located on the ground floor of Benaki Hall and remain isolated in a designated area of the Infirmary until you depart from the campus.

In the event of rain, the Ceremony will take place on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 19:00, and the rehearsal / distribution of caps and gown will take place on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 18:00.
