"Today's Adolescents, Today's School": Two-Day Conference for Athens College teachers
How do adolescents grow
up today? How do they shape their identities, relationships, self-image, and
sense of belonging in a rapidly changing environment? The speed of information,
the pervasive presence of technology, the pressure to perform, and uncertainty
about the future create new challenges for students and for the teachers who
support them every day.
In response, on September 3 and 4, 2026, our School will hold a two-day conference for Athens College and Psychico College Junior High School and
High School teachers. The conference is organized by the President's
Office and the Psychoeducational Department of Athens College.
Through presentations by distinguished academics,
panel discussions, and teacher workshops, the conference seeks to foster a
meaningful dialogue between academic research and everyday school life. It will
explore issues related to adolescent mental health and well-being, as well as
students' functioning in the school environment. Particular emphasis will be
placed on supporting teachers, who are increasingly called upon to address
complex pedagogical, emotional, and social needs. The conference aims to deepen
understanding of today's students, strengthen and empower the role of
educators, and cultivate shared priorities and practices in a constantly
changing landscape.
