Oliver

Oliver

Oliver, with his friends, lives happily in his own world.  Without knowing, he is about to embark on the most beautiful adventure of his life.  Will you join him?(from the book’s back cover)

Author : Birgitta Sif
Edition : Ikaros
Class name : 1st grade

Oliver felt a bit different.  He enjoyed his solitude.  He made up stories with his imaginary friends and toys and he enjoyed their company…. until one day, while chasing his ball, he met Olivia!  A sweet tale for anyone who has ever felt different…

The book received a warm welcome from the reading public and critics. Released in 2012, simultaneously in English and Icelandic, it has been translated into over ten languages.

It has won the Dimmalimm Prize, the Icelandic Illustrator Award and has been nominated for the Nordic Council’s Children and Young People’s Literature Prize and the UKLA Book Award 2014 in the category 3-6 years of age.

In the last paperback edition in English there is the following note: Amnesty International supports the book because it reminds us that every person is born free and equal to others, and we all have our own ideas and our own opinion. These are but a few of the basic human rights.
