It is Christmas Eve.  Clara and her brother Fritz love Christmas!  Every year their uncle Drosselmeyer gives them each a special Christmas gift.  This year he gives Clara a wooden soldier, a Nutcracker.  Fritz doesn’t like the Nutcracker; he thinks it is a silly gift, unlike Clara who immediately falls in love with its big, sweet eyes.  And during the night, she discovers that her newfound friend can do a great deal more than crack nuts.   He was once a brave soldier who fell in love with a true princess…
