Getting to school each day is an exciting adventure.  Endless battles with dragons and monsters and armies of warriors… Unfortunately, the only thing I have encountered the last few days is a tangled mess of gray rags.  I can see it beneath the bridge.  At first I thought someone had discarded some old clothes.  Today, however, the tangled rags moved.   Really, I tell you.  No, it’s not my imagination running wild again.  The tangled rags are movingThe tangled rags arenttangled ragsThey area childA child? And what is it doing down thereAlone… Doesn’t it go to school?  This is a story about friendship that defies borders, language barriers and prejudices.  In the book’s appendices, one will find afterwords and team games from the heroes’ native lands; teachers, however, will also find suggestions on how to approach the story with their students in order cultivate in them a sense of empathy and to help them develop a critical view about attitudes and perceptions.
