The students of Athens College Junior High School—Nikolaos Katsampes, Ioannis Chrysostomos Koukos, and Athanasios Papaspyrou—were awarded the Gold Medal as a team in the Panhellenic Student Competition of the Panhellenic Association of Natural Sciences Laboratory Coordinators (PANEKFE), “Video – Experiments in Junior High School 2026,” for their video titled “Water Desalination: A Solution to Water Scarcity.”

Through an original and scientifically well-documented experiment, the students presented the desalination process as a modern, realistic response to the ever-growing problem of water scarcity.

Their project stood out for its experimental approach, methodical rigor, and strong scientific thinking, demonstrating that school education can serve as a platform for innovation, inspiration, and meaningful engagement with the challenges of the modern world.
