Annika Papantoniou

Chairwoman

Annika Papantoniou was born in Athens in 1957 and graduated from Abbots Hill School in Hertfordshire, UK. She holds a BSc in Economics and Business Administration from The American College of Greece, Deree.

She is Vice Chairwoman of  the  Board of Directors of  the Shipping Company A.M. Nomikos Transworld Maritime Agencies SA, a family-owned international ship owning and ship management company.

As a spouse and mother of Athens College graduates and furthermore as a grandmother of its students, she is indissolubly and deeply connected to Athens College. For several years she has been an active member of the Athens College community showcasing significant contribution while having acquired key senior roles and positions within the Athens College community.

Her involvement in the Athens College community began in 1989 from Psychico College Parents Association in which she served as President (1992-1995) and later on continued as President of the Athens College Parents Association (1996-1999). Since 1992 she has been an active member of the Parents Fund Drive and today she is a member of the Alumni Parents Fund Drive. 

Since 2000, she is a member of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation. In 2005 she was elected member of the Board of Directors, having served as General Secretary (2010 -2018) and Vice Chairwoman ( 2018-2020).

Since 2010 she is a Member/Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the non-for-profit Foundation George & Marie Vergottis.

She is married to Dr. Nikolas Papantoniou ’70 MD, PhD, Em.Professor of Obstetrics – Gynecology  & Maternal Fetal Medicine, National &  Kapodistrian University  of Athens,  Greece and they have three children who are Athens College graduates (Antonis ‘00, Tassos ‘02, Angele ‘03).
