AFD Class Agents Town Hall Meeting

AFD Class Agents Town Hall Meeting

Mar 2, 2026

On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, a meeting of the Class Agents, members of the Alumni Fund Drive (AFD), was held at the Athens College and Psychico College Alumni Association (SAKA) Club. The event followed the signing of the AFD Statute (el) by the College and SAKA, the renewal of the Class Agents body, and the succession of Dimitri Vamvakopoulos '64 by Vassilis Pachiyannis '86γ as AFD President after 21 years of service.

Dimitris Vamvakopoulos ’64 welcomed the Class Agents with a review of his tenure, thanked them for their support, and extended his best wishes to the new President, the Executive and Coordination Committee, and all Class Agents, reaffirming his availability to assist as needed. Vassilis Pachiyannis '86γ then took the floor and presented a surprise tribute to the outgoing President: a video celebrating his course and legacy, as well as an honorary plaque offered by the President of Athens College, Professor Spiros N. Polallis, and the President of SAKA, George Sakellariadis '01.

Vassilis Pachiyannis shared his personal experience and vision for the AFD and for the role of Class Agents. He introduced the members of the AFD Coordination Committee and proposed that D. Vamvakopoulos continue serving as a member—an invitation that was gladly accepted.

This was followed by a Town Hall-style discussion (thoughts and opinions on the College of the present and the future) with the College President, Professor Spiros N. Pollalis, and the SAKA President, George Sakellariadis ’01, on the theme“Athens College 100+1: How do we bring alumni closer to the School?”. The discussion was moderated by the AFD President, Vassilis Pachiyannis ’86γ.

The Class Agents were updated on the strategy and initiatives of both the School and SAKA. Among other topics, the conversation touched on the relationship between the College and SAKA; the continuation of the Town Hall series launched for the College’s 100th anniversary; the new AI and Greek Language Centers; the newly established Shipping Club; teacher training and assessment; student Clubs; the Scholarship Program and alumni engagement. Updates were also shared on SAKA's various activities and initiatives, including SAKA Chapters, SAKA Professional Clubs, SAKA sports clubs, the SAKA magazine, “ERMIS,” and more.

Class Agents of all generations contributed their views, experiences, and ideas. Topics included the reactivation of SAKA Seniors; networking and support for (recent) alumni both within and outside Greece; the School of Today; alumni sentiment; and the enduring impact of the College experience.

Class Agents residing abroad joined the discussion online.

The event was preceded by a guided tour—organized exclusively for Class Agents—of the anniversary exhibition “100 Years of Athens College” at the College Theater, led by curator and alumna Anna Enepekidou ’92.
