PanHellenic JHS Student Physics Competition “Aristotle”

Dear Parents,

The Department of Physics of the University of Athens, together with the Hellenic Society of Physics for Science and Education (EEFEE), are organizing the PanHellenic JHS Student Physics Competition “Aristotle” 2021, open to 7th, 8th and 9th grade Junior High School student.s from around Greece.

The Competition will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2021, starting at  09:30. Students will be advised as to the manner in which the competition will be carried out as soon as it announced by the Directorate of Secondary Education. Parents will be responsible for transporting their children to and from the testing center. The topics included in the competition are roughly the same as those projected to have been covered on a weekly basis per the National curriculum for each grade level, including issued modifications up until the time of the Competition.

Students must carry either their national ID or passport on the day of the competition. During the competition, students are forbidden from having a cell (mobile) phone in their possession.  However, they are advised to bring geometric tools and a pocket calculator with them .  during the Competition, as the possession and use of mobile phones during the Competition is prohibited.  Indicative topics from previous years, representative of the philosophy of the Competition and the Olympiad, are posted together with their solutions on http://micro-kosmos.uoa.gr.  Studying previous exam topics can both stimulate interest and serve as preparation for this year’s competition.

Junior High School students who are interested in entering, should send the registration form (located at the end of the attached letter in Greek) to Ms. E. Economou at [email protected] by Monday, March 1, 2021.

9th Annual PanHellenic Physics Competition

Dear Parents,

The Greek Physicists Union is organizing the 9th Annual PanHellenic Physics Competion, open to Junior High School students  The Competition will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2021, starting at  09:30. Students will be advised as to the manner in which the competition will be carried out as soon as it announced by the Directorate of Secondary Education. Parents will be responsible for transporting their children to and from the testing center. The material covered in the Competition is approximately 2/3 of the (Ministry) syllabus that has been set for each grade level, including modifications up until the week of the competition. 

Students must have either their National ID or passport with them on the day of the competition. They are also advised to bring geometric tools and a pocket calculator with them, but not a cell (mobile) phone as its possession and use is prohibited during the competition.  ndicative topics from previous years, representative of the philosophy of the competition, are posted together with their solutions on http://eef.gr.
