Athens College and Psychico College High Schools Student Community Initiative: "Bring Books 2nd Life"

May 28, 2026

The "Bring Books 2nd Life" initiative took place at our School for the third consecutive year. The program originated from a proposal submitted to the Student Community by students Leonidas Chaidemenos, Dimitrios Saracakis, and Stamatis Karantzas. Since then, the Recycling team has played a central role in raising awareness across the School community by creating informational materials, participating in events such as the Christmas Bazaar, Panigiri, and the Spring Event, and actively supporting the collection and sorting of recyclable materials.

The initiative aims to promote the responsible use and reuse of textbooks while encouraging the active participation of the entire College community—students, teachers, and administrative staff—in adopting sustainable practices and strengthening environmental awareness. Over the years, it has become an established tradition, fostering civic responsibility, collaboration, and teamwork among students.

It is worth noting that with proceeds from last year’s recycling efforts, students produced notebooks that were donated to students at our School and to other schools and organizations, further reinforcing the values of generosity and solidarity. In addition, proceeds raised through participation in the Christmas Bazaar and Panigiri were allocated to the Scholarship Program.
