Athens College Shipping Club: Student internship program at Almi Tankers

Jul 2, 2026
The ten-day internship program at Almi Tankers concluded on Friday, June 26, 2026, with 17 students from High School Grade 1 and Junior High School Grade 3 at Athens College and Psychico College participating. Hosted at the premises of Almi Tankers, members of the College's Shipping Club were introduced to company personnel, engaged in discussions, and gained insight into the operation of a shipping company, including the management of personnel, vessels, and cargo, as well as the workings of the global supply chain.

Mr. Michael Fostiropoulos '97Δ, Owner and Principal of Almi Tankers, personally supervised the program, while Ms. Elpiniki Stylogianni and Ms. Christina Terzaki oversaw its organization and successful implementation. The program concluded on a high note, with the four intern teams presenting their investment proposals and receiving highly positive feedback. The proposals were evaluated by a judging panel comprising company executives, and the highest-scoring team was awarded the "Markos Kynigos Award/1st Business Analysis Lab", in memory of Markos Kynigos.

Also attending the presentation were the parents of the participating students, members of staff from both Almi Tankers and Athens College, and the heads of the College's Shipping program, Mr. Sokratis Kougeas and Ms. Mary-Irene Triantafillou.
