Athens College Elementary School – Eco-Code 2026 as part of the “Eco-Schools” network

Jun 18, 2026

With the conclusion of this current school year, our School’s activities within the “Eco-Schools” network have also been successfully completed. Throughout the year, students followed the program’s seven-step methodology, culminating in the creation of the School’s new Eco-Code.

This year, we focused on the important issue of food waste. Students explored the scale of the problem through data and statistics, as well as its impact on the environment and climate change. At the same time, they investigated solutions and best practices to reduce waste, such as composting, choosing local products, promoting responsible food production and consumption, and managing available resources wisely.

As the culmination of these efforts, the students collaboratively drafted the Eco-Code 2026. This code outlines the commitments and principles that will guide our school community's daily life, fostering a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
