Grandparents' Day at our Kindergarten with Nikos Portokaloglou
On Thursday, May 14, 2026, "John M. Carras" Kindergarten students celebrated our School's annual Grandparents' Day, with a heartfelt event held at the College Theater, featuring beloved artist Nikos Portokaloglou.
150 Kindergarten students joined their voices with him as well with as their grandparents, enchanting the audience who hummed along some of his favorite songs.
The event was warmly attended by the students' parents and younger Pre-K students, who are already looking forward to their own Grandparents' Day celebration next year.
"John M. Carras" Kindergarten Director Ms. Tatiana Gouskou warmly thanked Mr. George Nakas, a grandfather of a Kindergarten student, for his invaluable help in organizing the event, as well as Mr. Portokaloglou for the great honor he bestowed by singing with the children. She expressed special thanks to Music teacher Ms. Elena Vasilopoulou and the Kindergarten Theater teachers for preparing this performance.
Mr. Portokaloglou said he was particularly happy to have participated in this event and emphasized that the best celebrations are those that include all ages, from grandparents to grandchildren. He also expressed his emotion when everyone sang together “Mi mou milas allo gi' agapi” by the late Dionysis Savvopoulos, who, as he said, played a decisive role in his own musical journey, ever since he was a child.
