Presentation of the "Book Recycling and Reuse" Initiative at Psychico College Elementary School

Mar 20, 2026

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, the “Book Recycling and Reuse – Bring Books 2nd Life” initiative was presented for the second consecutive year at Psychico College Elementary School. Students Leonidas Chaidemenos, Dimitris Saracakis, and Stamatis Karantzas presented the initiative to Grade 5 students in imaginative and original ways. They explained how paper is made, shared short videos on the book production process and paper recycling, and played quiz games with the students. Everyone participated with great enthusiasm and learned while playing.

The “Book Recycling and Reuse – Bring Books 2nd Life” initiative is being implemented for the third year at the College. The Recycling Team raises awareness among students, creates informational materials, participates in events such as the Christmas Bazaar, Panigiri, and the Spring Event, and actively collects and sorts recyclable materials.

The goal of this initiative is to promote responsible management of school textbooks and to encourage the active participation of the entire College community—students, teachers, and administrative staff—in adopting new practices and fostering environmental awareness. The initiative has now become an institution and continues to promote responsible citizenship among students while strengthening the spirit of cooperation and teamwork.

It is worth noting that, thanks to the proceeds raised from last year’s initiative, the students were able to make notebooks, which they donated to peers at our School and to other schools and institutions, further strengthening the sense of giving and solidarity. In addition, the proceeds from their participation in the Christmas Bazaar and the Panigiri were allocated to the Scholarship Program.
