Interpretive Reading Competition 2026 (Final Phase)

On Tuesday, March 3, and Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the Interpretive Reading Competition, co-organized by Athens College High School and Psychico College High School, in collaboration with the Second Directorate of Secondary Education of Athens, was held with great success. The competition was open to students of all grades from General and Vocational High Schools in Attica.

The theme of this year's competition was "20th-Century Greek Poetry Set to Music."

During the first phase, seventy-one students from twenty-six public and private schools in Attica presented the texts they had selected before a judging panel composed of the Teacher Advisors from the participating schools.

The ten students who achieved the highest scores qualified for the second phase of the competition and presented their texts to a judging panel consisting of Mr. Christos Zafeiropoulos, Teacher of Greek and Deputy Director of the "Synchroni Paideia" Schools; Ms. Elisavet Konstantinidou, theater, film, and television actress; and Mr. Yannis Xourias, Professor of Modern Greek Literature at the Faculty of Philology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The musical program of the event included songs based on poetry set to music, curated by the Inter-School Head of Music, Mr. Stefanos Tsokakis. Music teacher Ms. Anna Laki, students Areti Mayrogianni and Filippos Rallis from Athens College, and student Anastasia Rea Metallinou from Psychico College also participated in the musical program.

The students who distinguished themselves and received awards are as follows:

1st prize: Christos Blemenos (Private High School of Psychico College)

2nd prize: Konstantina Destouni (General High School of Melissia)

3rd prize: Symela Krokou (Ralleio Girls' General High School of Piraeus)
