Athens College Elementary School - English Department: Thanksgiving Day, when gratitude becomes a celebration
Thanksgiving Day at our School was a true celebration of creativity and collaboration! Students from all grades joined forces to bring the holiday spirit to life through drawings, songs, games, and theater.
The celebration began with the "Thanksgiving Quilt," a collective project titled Stitched with Thanks. Each student contributed their own piece, creating a colorful artwork filled with messages of love and gratitude.
Next, the Fulbright Fellows presented the interactive program "Thanksgiving Traditions & Trivia: A Celebration of Gratitude" to students in Grades 5 and 6. Through games and discussion, students learned about Thanksgiving traditions and discovered fascinating facts about the holiday's history.
The celebration concluded with two theatrical performances that delighted students and teachers alike:
The Story of the First Thanksgiving, performed by Grade 1 students for Grades 1 & 2
The Corn That Wanted to Be Candy, performed by Grade 3 students for Grades 3 & 4
Through these activities, students learned, played, and created, experiencing the true spirit of Thanksgiving: the value of gratitude and giving.
