Athens College Elementary School – November in our Library

During November, our students had the opportunity to meet distinguished authors and artists, engage in discussions, and participate in creative activities organized by our Library.

On the occasion of the 42nd Athens Marathon, the entire school attended the presentation of the book "Stelios Kyriakides: The man who ran for an entire nation!" by author Maria Kontou and illustrator Yorgos Sgouros. The story follows an athlete's journey and conveys powerful messages about willpower and perseverance.

Students also took part in a variety of reading-related activities:

Grade 1

One section met author Kyriakos Mourtzis, whose book "I'm a button, too" explores themes of diversity and acceptance.

Two sections enjoyed a dramatized narration by Christos Christopoulos of the book "The Richest Cow in the World," which focuses on happiness and life's values.

Grade 2

Two sections attended the presentation of "The Teacher's Shoes" by Despoina Irakleous, a book about dreams, stereotypes, and equality.

Two sections participated in a dramatized narration of "The Dolls' House" by theater educator Renata Kapetanaki.

Katerina Kris presented the book "The Little Alchemist" to two sections, opening a dialogue about emotions and friendship.

Grade 3

All students attended the presentation of "Like a Power Outage" by Alkistis Halikia, a book about friendship, nature, and change.

Two sections met with author Mania Douka, who presented her book "The Prince's Crown" and took students on a journey to prehistoric Greece through a story that blends imagination with archaeology and art.

Grade 4

Maria Rousaki presented her book "A Light in the Darkness: The Story of Helen Keller" to all students, conveying messages of faith, strength, and optimism.

Manos Bonanos presented his book "Hachiko," a story about devotion and friendship, to two sections.

Actress Goni Louka presented a dramatized narration of the first book in Enid Blyton's "The Famous Five" series for one section.

Grade 5

Students met ultra swimmer Spyros Chrysikopoulos and illustrator Yorgos Sgouros through the book "Swimming Beyond the Limits," which highlights goals, effort, and overcoming obstacles.

Actress Goni Louka presented a dramatized narration of the first book in Enid Blyton's "The Famous Five" series to one section.

November was a month filled with books, inspiration, and creativity, strengthening our students' love of reading and bringing them closer to the joy of knowledge and imagination.
