Athens College at the 2025 International Baccalaureate Global Conference - "Our Humanity, Connected"
From October 23 to 25, 2025, the annual International Baccalaureate® (IB) World Conference was held in The Hague, under the central theme "Our Humanity, Connected." During the Conference, more than 1,600 educators, researchers, and education leaders from at least 100 countries exchanged knowledge, experiences, and best practices, highlighting the importance of collaboration and a shared vision for a better educational future.
The conference was attended by IB Programmes Director and IB DP Head of School Ms. Eleni Vasiliou, the Director of Psychico College Junior High School, Ms. Panagiota Maragou, and the Deputy Director of Athens College Junior High School and Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator, Ms. Tania Gaitani.
The main theme of this year's Conference was the importance of the human dimension in teaching and learning amid rapid development and constant change.
Through a series of workshops and lectures, participants had the opportunity to learn about and exchange views on the current state of affairs in education. It was emphasized that the IB Organization will continue to support actions that strengthen human connection, promote intercultural understanding, and empower educators as agents of positive change on a global level.
The keynote speakers at the Conference pointed out that, now more than ever, education is called upon to strengthen the skills and abilities that will enable young people to meet the demands of an ever-changing world, while fostering the fundamental human characteristics that are at the core of the educational process: self-awareness, empathy, and creativity.
In this era of rapid technological development, we must remember that we are first and foremost human beings, deeply connected to each other and to the planet that hosts us. By maintaining this principle as the foundation of our educational work, we will prepare our students to face the challenges of an uncertain future with resilience, optimism, and ingenuity.
The Conference concluded with messages of optimism and shared reflections on the role of education in shaping a more conscious, collaborative, and open-minded society.
