Grade 5 students of the German Department traveled to Munich, Bavaria—using their imagination!

Through stories, presentations, and activities, they learned more about the famous Oktoberfest, the world's largest folk festival. While many people know it as a "beer festival", our students discovered that it all began in 1810 with the wedding of Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese. Since then, the festival has expanded and evolved, yet it continues to celebrate joy, music, dance, and traditional treats!

And because no celebration is complete without treats, we brought Oktoberfest to our School's dining room! The students put on their gloves, worked together, and prepared the traditional Bavarian potato salad! The result? Delicious and wonderfully festive!

Of course, no one left empty-handed! Each student took home the recipe to recreate it and relive the day they "traveled" to Oktoberfest!

We learned, laughed, cooked, ate, and as they say in Munich: O’zapft is!
