Athens College Elementary School – Time for Olive Harvesting!
During the week of October 20-24, our school was filled with life and the aroma of olives! Students from the Environmental-Gardening Club, the Grade 5 and 6 Entrepreneurship Club, section 4b, and a Grade 1 English class enthusiastically participated in the "Olive Harvest" activity.
Under the coordination of Mr. Tzouvistas and the valuable guidance of teachers Ms. M. Giannakopoulou, Mr. L. Zachos, Mr. S. Kallimanis, Ms. F. Kafetzopoulou, Ms. A. Marazioti, and Mr. P. Fines, the students undertook to pick the olives from the trees at our school. With team spirit and smiles, the harvest became a celebration of cooperation and experiential learning.
The olives will be turned into pure olive oil, which will be sold at the school bazaar, reinforcing the link between the activity, environmental awareness, and the concept of active citizenship. The students experienced the value of sustainability, cooperation, and respect for nature through an unforgettable experience.
