
London event honoring the College's Centennial
As part of the ongoing celebratory events for the Centennial of Athens College, on Monday, May 12, 2025, an event was held in London to support the College's Endowment Fund, its continuous educational and pedagogical work, and the Scholarship Program. Alumni, friends, and supporters of the College gathered in the British capital to share their thoughts and visions at the dawn of the School's second century.
The event was honored by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Ioannis Tsaousis, Ambassador of Greece to the United Kingdom, and Ms. Maira Myrogianni, Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy.
Ms. Maya Zafeiropoulou '04, who coordinated the event in London, welcomed the guests.
Mr. Alexis Phylactopoulos '65, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. George Antoniadis '80, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Professor Spiros N. Pollalis, President of Athens College, delivered addresses. The Chairmen of the two Boards then cut a special cake in celebration of the School's 100th birthday.
Internationally acclaimed fashion designer Ms. Mary Katrantzou '00 spoke about the skills she acquired at the College, which gave her the confidence to pursue her dreams.
The speeches were followed by a discussion titled "Education, Innovation & Opportunity: Shaping Career Pathways", coordinated by Costantza Sbokou-Konstantakopoulou, Head of Endeavor Greece and PHĀEA.
Fellow participants in the discussion were:
- Giorgos Chatzigeorgiou, President and Co-founder, ZOE
- Yiannis Kiachopoulos, CEO and Co-founder, Causaly
- Ioannis Martinos '95, CEO and Founder, The Signal Group
The event concluded with Ms. Alexandra Tsavliris '98, who spoke about her family's ties to the College, dating back to when her father, Nikolaos Tsavliris '66, was a boarder, and continuing today with her own children studying at the College. She called on all present to support the College, so it may remain a hub of excellence for generations to come.
