Doros Theodorou '76 elected to the Academy of Athens

We are proud to announce that Doros Theodorou, Athens College alumnus and salutatorian of the Class of 1976, has been elected a member of the Academy of Athens. Professor Theodorou currently serves at the School of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. The official Induction Ceremony of the new Academician was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, and included a presentation of his research work, scientific contributions, and his international recognition in the fields of materials science and chemical engineering.

Professor Theodorou is a globally acclaimed scientist whose significant work focuses on developing new computational methods and algorithms to better understand and predict the relations between material structure, properties, processing, and performance. He has earned multiple awards and accolades for his lifetime achievements, including the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award, the European Materials Medal, the DSM Lifetime Achievement Award, the Guggenheim Medal, and the FOMMS Medal. He is also a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association.
