As part of the Expedition, one of our School's leading initiatives aimed at supporting rural and Greek diaspora schools, students from the Athens College High School Expedition Club, accompanied by their teachers, visited St. George’s Greek Orthodox School in Kingston Upon Thames from Wednesday, April 30, to Saturday, May 3, 2025.

St. George's Greek school in Kingston has 275 students and employs 15 teachers. It operates under the auspices of the Central Educational Council (KES) of the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain, chaired by His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas, and the E.F.E.P.E. (Coordinating Committee of Greek Educational Bodies in the UK). The school runs every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering lessons in Greek language, Religion, History, and Geography of Greece and Cyprus. Students also receive instruction in Greek dances and both traditional and contemporary songs, and have opportunities to prepare for G.C.S.E. & A-Level exams. As part of the visit, the Athens College High School Student Community donated technical equipment to support the school's educational mission.

The Athens College High School delegation was welcomed by the school's Director, faculty, administrative staff, and the President and Vice-President of the Greek Community of Kingston. Our students were embraced by their Greek peers in London, attended classes together, and toured the school. Parting was difficult, but both schools pledged to continue and deepen their cooperation.

Beyond the school visit, the expedition included cultural activities, such as visits to the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, Oxford University, and Windsor Castle, along with guided tours of major London landmarks.

The mission was led by Mr. Christos I. Konstantopoulos, Co-Director of Athens College and Director of Athens College High School, along with Mr. Georgios Karampatis, Assistant Director of Athens College High School, and faculty members Mr. Nikolaos Kollias and Ms. Penny Basiakou.
