
Athens College Junior High School - Travelogue in Crete - "Fragments of 20th Century Greek History through the History of Crete"
Members of the History Workshop had the opportunity to take part in a three-day educational visit themed "Fragments of 20th Century Greek History through the History of Crete."
The program explored key events such as: Crete's struggles for union with Greece, the Balkan Wars - the "doubling" of Greek territory and the union with Crete, World War I and the National Schism, World War II: the Battle of Crete, occupation, reprisals, and the United National Resistance.
Students participated in guided tours and educational programs at the following sites:
- Historical Museum of Crete
- Nikos Kazantzakis Museum: "Learning History with Kazantzakis"
- Maritime Museum of Crete
- Etz Hayyim Synagogue, Chania: "Multiculturalism, Historical Trauma, Acceptance, Inclusion"
- Souda Bay War Cemetery: "Historical memory as individual and collective identity"
- Venizelos Tombs
- National Research Foundation "Eleftherios K. Venizelos" - Venizelos Museum/Residence, Chalepa
- Municipal Art Gallery of Chania: "50 Years of History of the Municipal and Regional Theater of Crete"
- Therisso Museum/Headquarters
- Therisso National Resistance Museum
