Psychico College Elementary School students enter the Young Reporters for the Environment international competition

Apr 15, 2024

This academic year, Ms. Mary Efthymiou’s 6ENL class entered the international competition run under the auspices of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, Young Reporters for the Environment. This year’s competition centered around the issue of Climate Change.

The students chose to address the importance of Posidonia Oceanica and how human activity leads to its destruction, calling for action!

They researched material from scientific and other articles dedicated to Posidonia, as well as brochure material from projects working on the marine plant. The students were then divided into teams (basic information, importance, dangers, solutions), they created storyboards and then wrote the script of the video. They also addressed questions to  Doctor of Marine Ecology Dimitris Poursanidis who sent them the answers in a video.

They then participated in a scuba diving venture to see Posidonia up close, as well as a trip to a beach on Saronikos Bay to witness the accumulation of Posidonia on the shore. Finally, the class shot the footage that was then sent to the production company for editing and post-production.

Our sincerest thanks to @Olga Michalopoulou and @Foss Productions.
