The second educational visit of the Athens College Junior High School "Living in the Mediterranean - Land of the Olive" Club took place on April 8, 2024.

The destination was the Environmental Museum in Stymphalia (part of the Museum Network of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation). On a verdant hillside on the shores of Lake Stymphalia, an area which belongs to the Natura 2000 Network of Protected Areas, the students remembered Hercules and the Stymphalid vultures and got to know the southernmost mountainous wetland of the Balkans with its rich flora and fauna.

Thanks to the lively and comprehensive guided tour of the Museum's people, they learned about the geological history, the environment and the traditional way of life of the inhabitants of Stymphalia. They climbed on the boat - in the interior of the Museum! - saw the section of the lake with living plants and fish of the wetland and watched with great interest the presentation by the Director of the Museum Mr. Vikatos on the natural sounds and their influence on Music throughout time.

The tour concluded with a short hike on the path leading to the Acropolis of Stymphalia from where they admired the view of the lake.
