In the context of the MYP thematic module on: "Professions", Ms. Faye Magouti, a graduate translator and conference interpreter of English and German, presented her profession to the students of the German language class b_LA3_G5 of Athens College and bD4-phase 3 of Psychico College.

The aim of the presentation was to familiarize students with the professions in the language industry and in particular with that of conference interpreter. With the help of role playing exercises, students practiced shadowing (simultaneous interpreting in the same language) and consecutive interpreting in the language pair German - Greek and were able to understand the differences between the two methods and the challenges of each. Finally, there was a discussion on how AI applications are already affecting the language professions and possible developments.
